Inpatient Rehab Facilities
The most common type of rehabilitation facility is the inpatient rehab facility in which patients live and receive treatment for the duration of time that they are getting counseling, therapy and support for their addiction. Inpatient rehab facilities provide patients with the safest, most secure and reliable environment to get help without having to be worried about being faced with the potential stress or triggers of using drugs that they could be subjected to outside of treatment.
Benefits of Inpatient Rehab Facilities
The most profound benefit of inpatient rehab is that while the patient is in this type of rehabilitation program they have little to absolutely no access to drugs or alcohol. The only exception to this is the medications that are prescribed to them by the doctor on staff (which are administered on a dose by dose basis) and of course to the possibility that friends or family members sneak such substances in which is highly unlikely due to the security of the facility.
Inpatient rehab facilities provide patients with time (usually 30 days or more) to get the counseling and support that they need to recover from addiction. Unlike outpatient programs where the patient will return home to continue working on their recovery, inpatient rehab facilities provide patients with a place to live and sleep while they receive around-the-clock treatment and care. These programs are most beneficial to those who have suffered from addictions that are dangerous and could be deadly if left untreated.
Who Needs Inpatient Rehab?
Inpatient rehab is not the first resort of treatment for all addicts and in fact may not be necessary for every type of addict. For instance, those who suffer only minor addicts or for those whose addictions are not highly physical may not need inpatient treatment. For patients who suffer from heroin addiction, prescription drug addiction or any other addiction for which they have already tried outpatient treatment and have not had any success; inpatient treatment could be the most beneficial option.
Inpatient rehab is for the following people:
- Those suffering from highly physical addictions
- Those who do not have strong support thresholds at home
- Those who cannot get support outside of treatment
- Those who have already tried other methods of treatment without success
- Those who have been addicted for a very long time
- Those who have co-occurring mental health conditions or other addictions
