Alcohol Rehab Facilities

Alcohol rehab facilities can help you overcome your alcohol addiction!

One of the most common types of addiction that individuals around the world suffer from is alcohol addiction.  Because alcohol is legal it seems that it causes more and more people to become addicted and causes more problems than any other substance in the world.  Fortunately there are alcohol rehab facilities that provide treatment and care for those suffering from alcoholism to get them back on track and to help them heal physical and psychologically from the trauma that is caused by alcohol addiction.

Treatments Provided at Alcohol Rehab Facilities

Many different types of treatment are offered at alcohol rehab facilities but the most common forms of treatment include detox, counseling, therapy and aftercare.  Each of these treatments provides the patient with an improved chance of maintaining sobriety and making a full recovery from alcohol addiction.

Alcohol Detox

The first and most important step of alcohol rehab is detox.  During alcohol detox the patient will suffer a range of withdrawal symptoms that may include moderate to severe complications which should be monitored by a medical professional.  Some of the most common symptoms of alcohol detox include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Sweats
  • Tremors
  • Increased temperature
  • Increased heart rate
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Hallucinations
  • DTs
  • Shakes

Most of the time these withdrawal symptoms are mild and will subside on their own within a few days but for some the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal can become severe and may warrant the need for medication or further medical care.  Alcohol detox is provided in a hospital like setting either in the alcohol rehab facility or in another facility before the patient can be accepted into alcohol rehab.

Counseling and Therapy

The foundation for any alcohol rehab program is counseling and therapy to assist the patient with psychological issues that surround their alcohol addiction.  Counseling is provided in both group and individual sessions to ensure that the patient gets the most out of their treatment.  During group counseling the addict comes together with others who suffer from alcohol addiction and the group conversation focuses on recovery goals, methods and concerns all of which are monitored by a therapist or moderator.

Aftercare

Following successful treatment in an alcohol rehab facility the patient will be released to maintain their lasting recovery on their own.  This is a good thing but in some cases, additional monitoring and guidance is needed in order to ensure that the patient is safe, secure and remains on the right track.  This is why most alcohol rehab facilities also provide aftercare services which may include job placement assistance, career placement, housing assistance and other social services to assist the patient in continuing to remain alcohol free even once they are released from the treatment program.
